Luís Lobato laid to rest in Leorema , Liquiça

DILI, June 22, 2023 (TATOLI) – The body of the former Deputy Minister of Health, Luís Lobato, will be veiled and laid to rest in his location, in Leorema, the administrative post of Bazartete, municipality of Liquiçá.

The information regarding his funeral rites was revealed by his cousin, Rogério Lobato, representing his family who said that his family decide on Leorema as his last resting place following, the late Luis Lobato’s earlier request before he passed away.

“Luís Lobato’s body will be buried in Leorema, where the Lobato family were buried. Furthermore, Luís Lobato had told me that when he died, he wanted to be buried close to his relatives”, informed Rogerio Lobato in Delta Nova, Dili.

Rogério Lobato explained that the family of the former Deputy Minister of Health preferred to bury the late Luís Lobato’s body in Leorema. Instead of decided to bury his body in the Heroes cemetery, adding that the decision should not be understood as ingratitude, as “the cemetery of Leorema is also part of Timor-Leste”.

Luís Lobato born on December 12, 1962, in Leorema, in Bazartete. He was Deputy of Health Minister in the First (I) and Second (II) Constitutional Governments. Luís Lobato, passed away of undiagnosed illness at around 2 am local time at the Stamford Bridged Clinic, in Becora, Dili. He left six children and his wife.

The former political leader studied at Colégio de Soibada from 1969 to 1971, having attended the technical school in the following years.

In 1980 and 1981 he worked at the Alas Health Center in the municipality of Manufahi. He studied at the Lahane School of Medicine faculty in Dili between 1982 and 1985. In 1995 he graduated in nursing in Jakarta, and in 2008 he completed a master’s degree in medicine in Bali.

In 2011 he obtained another master’s degree at Gajah Mada University in Indonesia.
