DILI, 19 june 2023 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste’s Charismatic Leader, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão expressed his profound and sincere condolences over the death of Isabel Ferreira, the spouse of outgoing Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak and the former deputy health minister, Luís Lobato.
Gusmão expressed his condolences as he presided over a minute of silence during the opening of the Conference of the National Congress for Timorese Reconstruction (CNRT), in Dili, today.
Both Ferreira and Lobato died on the same day (18/06) leaving saddened family and friends behind.
Gusmão was deeply saddened by the passing away of both Ferreira and Lobato: “On behalf of the CNRT party, I would like to take this opportunity to express my condolences for the passing away of Isabel Ferreira and Luís Lobato.”
“My deepest condolences to Isabel’s loved ones, including her husband, Prime Minister Ruak, and her children who will no longer see their mother’s presence at home,” he said.
The medical team at the Guido Valadares National Hospital said Isabel Ferreira passed away from colorectal cancer yesterday at 8.48 pm.
She married Taur Matan Ruak in 2001, and they have three children, Lola, Queshadip and the youngest, Tamarisa.
Meanwhile, the former deputy health minister, Luís Lobato, passed away at around 2 am local time, yesterday, at the Stamford Bridged Clinic, in Becora, Dili.
