DILI, 27 june 2023 (TATOLI)– Many guests had confirmed to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the 9th Constitutional Government to be held on july 1, 2023, The General Coordinator, for Ceremony, Deputy Chief of Staff for the Presidency, Henriqueta Maria da Silva, has said.
Silva informed that guests would come from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Portugal, Australia, and New Zealand.
“There are around 100 guests who have confirmed their presence, mostly from Indonesia. Several guests were invited by the President of the Republic José Ramos Horta and several others, at their request to attend, because they wanted to invest in Timor-Leste,” Coordinator General Henriqueta told reporters at the Presidential Palace in Dili, Monday.
It was explained that the guests who had been confirmed to attend were from Indonesia and Singapore, even though the Head of State and Head of Government were unable to attend, they would be represented by members of their government.
“We invited the President of the Republic of Indonesia, but the President was also unable to attend the President has assigned Mr. Luhut Panjaitan (Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security of the Republic of Indonesia) to attend the ceremony, and we have also invited the Prime Minister of Singapore and have confirmed that Singapore’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation will represent Prime Minister,” he said.
It was confirmed that, the delegates from Indonesia will attend the ceremony are Luhut Panjaitan, Susi Puji Astuti (Former Minister of Fisheries), the Governor of Nusa Tenggara Timur ( NTT) Victor Laiskodat, a delegation from Bali, and also Cristin Hakim who will make a Timor – Leste film, and a team of journalists from Indonesia.
“For other countries, it has not been confirmed, maybe they will delegate members from their government,” she said.
According to Silva, the guests will arrive in Timor Leste, on June 30 and July 1, but the journalists will arrive before the inauguration ceremony.
