DILI, 04 september 2023 (TATOLI)— The Commander of the Defense Forces of the Republic of Timor Leste (F-FDTL), Lieutenant General Domingos Raul ‘Falur Rate Laek’ revealed three F-FDTL personnel had an accident while attending military training in Australia and have recovered.
“Three of our members suffered injuries but they have fully recovered. We have to accept the consequences because that is military training,” Falur told reporters after meeting the President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta at the State Palace, Bairro Pite, this Monday.
He said the three members had an accident while participating in military training at Predator in the Northern region, of Darwin, Australia.
“The injured including Lieutenant Juvinal Ribeiro, Corporal Agostinha dos Santos, and Private Bartolomeu de Souza Nunes,”
Last week, about 30 members of the Ground Component and Service Support Unit received commando orders to participate in Armed Forces missions through a joint exercise called “Exercises Predators”.
This exercise was started by the Australian Defense Military for several years and countries in the Pacific region also took part. Unfortunately, during one of the training phases called tactical vehicles’ the three members of the Timor-Leste military had an accident.
These three members had an accident on Sunday (30/08/2023) and were evacuated by the Australian Military paramedics to the hospital. Currently, they are in good condition and are still undergoing treatment.
This joint exercise was designed by a friendly country of Australia and also invited the F-FDTL Military to participate. The duration of training can be one or two weeks, and some can last up to a month.
