MoE and Partners discuss education join the action program

DILI, 15 september 2023 (TATOLI)- Development Partners led by the United Nations Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the Secretary of State for Secondary School and Vocation Training (SoSSVT), Minister of Education (MoE) discussed the Education Joint Action program in Timor-Leste.

At the discussion event, Bilal Aurang Zeb Durrani, Country Representative of UNICEF in Timor-Leste, congratulated the Ministry of Education for organizing the event to discuss the action program and government strategy plan to improve the quality of Education in Timor-Leste.

“It is very important to support the ninth of government through the Minister of Education. All development partners, United Nations Agency, Donors, and Civic Society Organization (CSO) come together and coordinate all activities allied and avoid duplication to achieve learning results and to improve the education system in Timor-Leste,’’ Country Representative of UNICEF in Timor-Leste, Bilal Aurang Zeb Durrai told Journalists in Comoro, Friday

According to Durrani, it is a great collaboration between UNICEF and the Minister of Education and invited all development partners to come together to further discuss some main issues that Timor-Leste faces to ensure education quality for Timorese students.

Minister of Education, Dulce De Jesus Soares said it is an extraordinary meeting between the line ministries to introduce the action plan for 2024 to all development partners.

“We are providing an education action plan for next year, to introduce to development partner to be adjusted to ensure the program will not overlap for the implementation of the education program in Timor-Leste,’’ she said

The discussion talking points focus on Human Resources in three areas, preschool, Primary School, and Secondary School.

“We also discussed many sectors such as School infrastructure, and capacity building for teachers. Those principal points required to be more improved to ensure the quality of education in Timor-Leste,’’ She explained

ACETL meeting was participated by all Development Partners in Timor-Leste composed of UNICEF, the Australian Embassy, the New Zealand Embassy, the CUBA Embassy, WFP, WHO, UNW, UNESCO, Plan International, Child Fund Timor-Leste, Care International, and others together with Secretary of State for Secondary School and Vocation Training (SoSSVT), Minister of Education (MoE) discussed ECETL program in TL.
