DILI, 21 november 2023 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, has confirmed to attend the upcoming anniversary of Timor-Leste’s Proclamation of Independence.
The 48th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Independence will be celebrated with the theme: “Celebrating history, building the future.
The Vice-Minister of State Administration, Jacinto Rigoberto said that the Government has sent official letters to the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) to take part in this celebration and has now received the first positive response from President of the Guinea Bissau.
“The Organizing Committee has already received confirmation of the presence of the Guinean Head of State and his team at the Proclamation of Independence Day celebration,” said Jacinto Rigoberto at a press conference in Dili.
The deputy minister added that the government is prepared to receive all international delegations.
During the event, various activities will be organized, such as the celebration of a thanksgiving mass in the Church of Santo António, in Motael, and a local products fair. Thus, on november 28, starting at 8am, the ceremony will begin with the hoisting of the National Flag, followed by a military parade, a minute’s silence and the decoration of combatants and veterans of the Liberation of the Country and a tribute to teachers by the President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta.
Representatives of the various sovereign bodies will be present, as well as national figures.
The Government has made US$460,000 available for various activities of the event in Dili.
