DILI, 05 december 2023 (TATOLI) – The government, through the Ministry of State Administration (MISA), which is responsible for implementing the Uma Naroman ba Povu project, has announced the temporary suspension of the project’s implementation.

The announcement was made by the Minister of State Administration, Tomás do Rosário Cabral on the sidelines of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the National Program for Village Development (PNDS), at Dili Convention Center (CCD), on tuesday.

“The National Parliament urged the government to evaluate the implementation of the PNDS projects, including the Uma Naroman ba Povu project,” said Minister Cabral.

Cabral said that the government would evaluate the implementation of all PNDS projects before resuming activities, including the UNP: “We have temporarily suspended the UNDP project. Therefore, before resuming the implementation of the project, we first need to evaluate the remaining PNDS budget of US$32 million.”

Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, who spoke at the event, urged MoSA to investigate the execution of the PNDS budget for 2021 and 2022 before resuming the projects: “There has to be an investigation into the PNDS project.”
