DILI, 06 december 2023 (TATOLI) – The Government of Timor-Leste has executed US$1,176,374,631 (69%) of the US$2.1 billion General State Budget 2023.
“The execution of the General State Budget of US$2.1 billion from january to november reached US$1.17 billion, equivalent to 69%,” said Finance Minister Santina Cardoso in the National Parliament.
Before the 9th government took office in june 2023, the budget execution of the previous government was US$561,333,544 (29%) in the second quarter of the year.
Meanwhile, the execution of the State Budget under the leadership of Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão in the third quarter was US$615,041,087 (34%).
The 2023 State Budget, worth US$2.1 billion, was approved by the National Parliament on november 17, 2022 and promulgated by the President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta, on december 15, 2022.
The 2023-GSB would be used to fund 49 programs, with 275 main measures, organized into 16 strategic areas: Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Forestry; Economy and Employment; Tourism; Rural Development and Housing; Environment; Petroleum and Minerals; Electricity and Renewable Energy; National Connectivity; Water and Sanitation; Education and Training; Health; Social Inclusion and Protection; Culture and Heritage; State Reform; Defense and National Security; International Relations and Foreign Policy.
