DILI, 18 december 2023 (TATOLI) – President of the Republic Jose Ramos Horta helped the orphans who are under the care of the nuns from the ALMA congregation in Bebonuk Sub-district, Dili Municipality.
On this occasion, the Head of State offered basic food including some drinks to 16 orphans, most of whom have disabilities.
“I will continue to offer more and I am very happy to see you all, and later I will take some of you to the Hospital to check your eyes. I thank the nuns who lovingly care for you,” said Horta at the Alma convent, this monday.
The Head of State considers religious groups or individuals who care for orphans to have the ‘hearts of saints’.
This offering, as a present for the Christmas and New Year 2024 celebrations, the Superior of the ALMA convent SISTER, Mother Getrudis Bidi in Bebonuk, also expressed her gratitude to President Ramos-Horta even though he is very busy but continues to care for and visit the orphans at ALMA SISTER.
Meanwhile, in 2023, the Presidency carried out charitable actions to offer basic food to around 2,000 vulnerable families nationwide.
This year, according to the plan, the Head of State will organize “NATAL DO POVU” with the aim of holding a joint Christmas celebration with the people (free entrance), which will take place at the Presidential Palace compound, on December 22, 2023, starting at 2:00 pm.
