DILI, 03 january 2023 (TATOLI) – If you like local cuisine and would like to learn how to cook it, you can take a course at the Agora Food Studio (AFS). AFS is located in Timor Plaza and has trained more than a thousand foreigners since 2021. AFS was established in 2016 with aim to promote local food.
According to Arnaldo Gomes, leader of the team of trainers, the cost of a one-day course is around US$35.
“We’ve already trained many people, including Thais, New Zealanders, South Koreans, Indonesians, and Australians,” said Gomes in Timor-Plaza.
He said that AFS has earned more than US$10,000 from the culinary training program: “We taught them, for example, how to make and cook local food called katupa, ikan tukir, budu tasi and so on.”
The last group of trainees was made up of 11 employees from the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
One of the trainees, Lee Moo said that the training was very productive and interesting: “I really enjoyed learning how to make katupa, especially learning how to assemble the cococut leaf bags.”
