DILI, 18 january 2024 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Justice, through the General Directorate of Registry and Notary Services, today, officially launched the online scheduling system for passports, birth certificates, criminal records, and identity cards.

The launch of the online scheduling system is to improve passport-making services, including birth certificates, criminal records, and identity cards.
The online scheduling system was launched jointly by the Minister of Justice, Amândio de Sá Benevides, and the Minister of Transport and Communications, Miguel Marques Manetelu, accompanied by officials from the General Directorate of Registry and Notary (GDRN) and Technology, Information and Communication (TIC Timor), in Dili.
The Director of the GDRN, João Fernando Martins Borges, explained that the Online Scheduling System aims to avoid overcrowding applicants at the GDRN’s office.
“With the support of TIC Timor and the political decision of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC) and the Ministry of Justice (MJ), today we launch this online application system,” said Borges.
The Executive Director of TIC Timor, Venâncio Pinto, said that TIC will continue to work together with government institutions for the Implementation of e-Government Services in the country.
Minister Manetelu said that the launch of the Online Scheduling System is part of the government’s commitment to improve digital services in the country.
“Today we have also signed an agreement with MoJ to work together to improve digital services in the future,” Manetelu said.
Minister of Justice, Amandio de Sá Benevides thanked TIC Timor for taking the initiative to improve passport-making services in the country.
According to him, the GDRN only accepts up to 150 applications for passports, 150 for birth certificates, 150 for identity cards, and 150 for criminal records every day.
In addition, TIC Timor also expressed its commitment to supporting the National Land Transportation Directorate (DNTT) with the same online scheduling system to improve vehicle inspection and driving license-making service.
