DILI, 23 january 2024 (TATOLI) – The United States is proud to support the launch of an E-Learning Platform, empowering local NGOs in Timor-Leste.
USAID Interim Mission Director Mark Anthony White and the Vice Prime Minister Mariano Assanami, on monday (22/01) inaugurated this groundbreaking initiative for civil society organizations.
FONGTIL will oversee the platform with technical and financial backing from the U.S. Government. The newly launched online learning hub is strategically designed to strengthen information exchange, coordination, capacity building, and advocacy among NGOs.
USAID is delighted to witness the immediate use of the newly launched online learning hub by NGOs.
USAID hoped the platform empowers FONGTIL and its 270 members, including Rede ba Saude Timor-Leste (REBAS-TL) and its 13 networks. This platform facilitates NGOs in information dissemination, resource optimization, event management, and fosters networking, strategy sharing, and collaboration.
“As we launch this transformative initiative, the United States reaffirms its enduring commitment to the development of Timor-Leste,” said White.
The launch of the e-learning platform aligns with USAID’s Health System Sustainability Activity to support civic engagement and advocacy for health system strengthening and the USAID/Timor-Leste NGO Advocacy for Good Governance Activity to provide essential support in creating an enabling environment for NGOs and enhancing their capacities to provide increased evidence-based, sustainable advocacy services on behalf of citizens.
Minister Assanami said that the launch of the E-Learning platform is very useful for local NGOs, as it provides accessible resources for employees of the NGOs to improve their performance: “Coordination between local NGOs will be strengthened.”
FONGTIL’s Executive Director, Valentim da Costa Pinto, extended his sincere gratitude to the US government for its support in launching the platform.
