DILI, 29 january 2024 (TATOLI) – The Embassy of Malaysia in Timor-Leste, on sunday (28/01), held a one-day Study in Malaysia Education Fair in Dili.  The fair brought together high-school students from many secondary high schools in Dili to meet university admissions representatives.

At the event, the year 12 students were given the chance to visit stands and speak to representatives from seven universities to discuss their plans to study at these universities.

The Malaysian Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Amarjit Singh Sarjit Singh, said that the representatives of the seven universities presented various study programs and courses at the fair, with the aim of familiarizing secondary school students with the majors they plan to study in Malaysia.

“This education fair gives Timorese students, the opportunity to explore more about the areas they prefer to study at Malaysian universities,” said Singh.

He said that there are currently not many Timorese studying in Malaysian universities, adding the education fair is therefore to encourage students to apply to study in Malaysia.

Novie Tajuddin, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), said that the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia will coordinate with the Human Capital Development Fund (FDCH) of the Ministry of Higher Education of Timor-Leste to provide scholarships for Timorese students to study in Malaysia.
