Presidential Elections: Thousands of Indonesians to cast votes in Timor-Leste

DILI, 09 february 2024 (TATOLI) – At least 4,739 Indonesians in Timor-Leste will flock to polling stations to cast their votes in Indonesia’s presidential elections to be held at the Indonesian Embassy in Dili, on sunday, february 11, 2024.

The Spokesperson of the Indonesian Foreign Election Committee in Timor-Leste, Fidel Olin explained that the Indonesian presidential elections in the 12 municipalities of Timor-Leste took place from 4 to 7 february and that Indonesian citizens living in those municipalities had cast their votes.

“We use early voting, also called advance polling or pre-poll voting, in which voters cast their votes several days before the actual election takes place in Indonesia,” Olin told Tatoli in an interview on thursday.

The presidential elections that will take place at the Embassy will start at 8 am and close at 6 pm.

The number of Indonesian voters living in Timor Leste is 5833 people consisting of 3624 men and 2209 women.

Indonesian Presidential elections are scheduled to be held in Indonesia on 14 february 2024 to elect the President, Vice President, People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) which consists of the House of Representatives (DPR), the Senate (DPD), and members of local legislative bodies at the provincial and city/regency level.

More than 204 million of Indonesia’s 270 million people are registered to vote in the upcoming presidential elections.

The three Indonesian presidential candidates are Anies Baswedan, Prabowo Subianto and Ganjar Pranowo.
