DILI, 22 february 2024 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Education, together with UNICEF organized a two-day workshop on Result Based Management (RBM) training workshops for Officials from the Ministry of Education.
The concept of Results Based Management is a management strategy by which all actors ensure that their processes, products and services contribute efficiently and effectively to the achievement of desired results.
Bilal Aurang Zeb Durrani, the head of UNICEF’s Timor-Leste Country Office highlighted that: “Adopting this approach to the education sector, helps us to set clear objectives, measure our progress against indicators, allocate our resources wisely, and adapt our strategies to ensure that we are on track to deliver the outcomes we have set in the National Education Sector Plans 2011-2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals, (SDG).”
“I am happy to introduce our colleagues from the Social Policy, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation team, who will facilitate this workshop over the next one and half days. Their presentations will cover sessions on principles of RBM, causality analysis, its framework, applying theory of changes, and discuss how we can apply them in our own contexts linked to Child Marker in Timor-Leste,” said Durrani. “All these topics are important in preparing us to set clear, measurable objectives, establishing robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, and holding ourselves accountable for the outcomes we seek to achieve in education.”
He added that the success of RBM is dependent on collective efforts and teamwork: “UNICEF remains available to work with the Ministry of Education and the Government of Timor-Leste to build capacities for the better achievement of results for every child.”
Minister of Education, Dulce De Jesus Soares said the comprehensive training program is critical to equip the officials with the knowledge and skills to apply results-based management (RBM) principles in supporting the education ministry to ensure good quality education for all.
Minister Soares expressed her sincere appreciation to UNICEF for its support and steady collaboration with the Ministry of Education to develop quality education for the people of Timor-Leste.
