DILI, 04 march 2024 (TATOLI) – António da Conceição “Kalohan”, the current Secretary General of the Democratic Party, has resumed his duties as a member of the National Parliament (PN), after being dismissed last month from his post as Timor-Leste’s Ambassador to Indonesia.

“I’m back here today (Parliament House) because I’m a member of parliament for the period of 2023 and 2027. I’m not looking for immunity, I’m just here to carry out my duties,” said António da Conceição at Parliament House.

Regarding his resignation as ambassador, the MP explained that he presented it to the Head of State, following the decision of the Dili Court which sentenced him to five years in prison for the financial crime.

Kalohan pointed out that his lawyer had already presented an appeal to the Court, explaining that he had left his position as an MP because he had accepted the offer to be Timor-Leste’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Indonesia.
