DILI, 11 february 2024 (TATOLI) – Twenty-five officials attended diplomatic training to deepen their knowledge of international negotiations and the resolution of regional or inter-regional conflicts, with the aim of ensuring the promotion of mutual interests, peace, and global stability.

The one-week training ( March 11-15) is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MoFAC), in partnership with Synergy Policies, from Indonesia.

“Capacity building is crucial for our diplomats to acquire new knowledge and experience in the field of diplomacy, in order to adapt to global challenges,” said Timor-Leste’s Foreign Minister, Bendito Freitas, on the sidelines of the opening of the training at MoFAC’s office, Dili.

Freitas stressed that “the initiative is part of the government’s commitment to improve public administration and the capacity of human resources as key players in the country’s development.”

Trainer Dinna Prapto Raharja explained that the training will focus on strategic planning about the current global situation and the negotiation approach to resolving disputes.

In addition, as Timor-Leste is a country rich in biodiversity and tourist attractions, it was decided to provide some knowledge on the blue economy.
