Timor-Leste and Thailand strengthen parliamentary ties

DILI, 27 june 2024 (TATOLI) – The House Speaker, Maria Fernanda Lay, accompanied by the President of Parliamentary Committee F, Maria Gorumali Barreto, the President of Parliamentary Committee G, Armando dos Santos, and other Members of Parliament, received a delegation from the Parliament of the Kingdom of Thailand, led by Senator General Boonsrang Niumpradit, on 26 june 2024, in the Conference Room of the National Parliament.

During the meeting, both parliaments discussed the need to forge closer ties between parliamentarians to elevate the relationship between Timor-Leste and Thailand to greater heights.

Both parties discussed important areas for development through cooperation between the two parliaments and the parliamentary exchange program. They discussed strengthening cooperation in important sectors, including agriculture and fisheries, with the aim of strengthening the country’s economy.

Lay appreciated the delegation’s visit, saying that the exchange of views between the two parliaments is crucial to contributing to the country’s development.

At this meeting, both parliaments agreed to continue visits between the two parliaments to discuss and carry out cooperation activities.
