DILI, 07 august 2024 (TATOLI) – The Head of the Parliamentary Committee B on Defense, and Security, and Foreign Affairs, Domingos da Costa, urged the National Police of Timor-Leste (PNTL) and the National Defense Force (F-FDTL) to tighten security during the Pope Francis’ visit to Timor-Leste, scheduled for September 9 to 11.
The MP highlighted the importance of increasing the number of police officers to be deployed in areas identified as being prone to clashes between martial arts groups and rituals.
To reinforce security during the papal visit, PNTL Commander Henrique da Costa and F-FDTL Chief of Staff Falur Rate Laek have discussed the joint security plan for Pope Francis’ visit.
Hundreds of F-FDTL officers will be deployed in Timor-Leste’s capital, joining PNTL officers to ensure security during Pope Francis’ visit to the country.
