DILI, 08 august 2024 (TATOLI) – In a vibrant cultural event at the Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace, Timor-Leste launched “Hein Santu Padre,” a song specially composed to welcome His Holiness Pope Francis on his visit to Timor-Leste.
Accompanied by the Chief of Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic, Jesuína Maria Ferreira Gomes, the song was launched by Monsignor Marco Sprizzi, Secretary of State for Social Communication, Expedito Dias Ximenes, and the Vicar General for Education Affairs and Vice General Coordinator of the Church for the Holy Father’s visit, Fr. Guilermino da Silva.
The song, a collaborative effort led by Cardinal Dom Virgílio do Carmo da Silva, features lyrics by Father Roque Soares da Cruz and music arranged by Vitorino Cardoso dos Santos. The project, coordinated by singer Anito Matos, involved 43 musicians and received support from various local artists and production teams.
This launch not only celebrates the anticipated papal visit but also commemorates the 35th anniversary of Saint John Paul II’s visit to Timor-Leste and the 25th anniversary of the national referendum. The event at the Presidential Palace marks a continuation of efforts to emphasize cultural engagement and national unity.
