DILI, 10 august 2024 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta awarded the Order of Timor-Leste to his Indian counterpart, Droupadi Murmu, as a way of strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two countries.
The two Heads of State held fruitful discussions, outlining a roadmap for future collaboration in critical sectors, including technology, agriculture, health, defense, infrastructure, and education.
Both leaders also emphasized the importance of dialogue and adherence to international law in promoting regional and global peace.
Murmu reaffirmed India’s support for Timor-Leste’s accession to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and congratulated the country on joining the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Horta expressed Timor-Leste’s support for India’s candidacy for permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council.
