DILI, 22 august 2024 (TATOLI) – In a gesture of solidarity, the Government of the People’s Republic of China has donated US$77,000 to support the rehabilitation of the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MoFAC), which was built by the Chinese government in 2016.
The Grant Agreement was signed by the Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Wang Wenli and MoFAC’s General Secretary, Joao da Cãmara, at the MoFAC office, on wednesday.
At the signing ceremony, Wenli highlighted the Chinese government’s commitment to keep supporting Timor-Leste and strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.
At the same place, Secretary General Cãmara, on behalf of the Timorese government, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Chinese government for this financial support.
Cãmara said that the rehabilitation will take place in the near future, adding the renovation will provide a comfortable environment to guarantee the quality of work in terms of implementing the country’s foreign policy and relations, diplomacy, bilateral and multilateral relations.”
In terms of China’s support to Timor-Leste, China constructed three major buildings in Timor-Leste, the Presidential Palace, the Headquarters of the Timorese National Defense Force (F-FDTL), and the MoFAC Office.
