Portuguese foreign minister pays a visit to EPD in Dili

DILI, 13 september 2024 (TATOLI) – The Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, accompanied by the Portuguese Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Manuela Bairos, visited the Portuguese School of Dili (EPD)—Ruy Cinaty Portuguese Language and Teaching Centre.

“A visit to a Portuguese school is always a high point for any Portuguese person and, in particular, for members of the government, because these are highly dynamic communities that have enormous importance in civic life, in Timor-Leste and in the city of Dili,” Paulo Rangel said in Balide, Dili.

In an effort to accommodate more Timorese children and youth who wish to learn Portuguese language and culture, he continued, the Portuguese government has provided funding for the development of new EPD facilities.

Likewise, the Portuguese Foreign Minister’s visit, according to EPD Director Manuel Alexandre, gave him insight into the efforts being made to promote Portuguese language adoption in Timor-Leste.
