DILI, 09 november 2024 (TATOLI) – Political Advisor to the Presidency of the Republic, General (RET.) Lere Anan Timur, affirmed that all schools have a duty and obligation to educate people to become better individuals, especially for young people to become a better future for our state of Timor-Leste because as an independent nation, it needs intelligent and qualified people including those filled with the spirit of nationalism and patriotism.
This statement was made when General (RET.) Lere Anan Timur spoke as an orator at a lecture organized by Lere Anan Timur General Secondary School, during the school’s 9th anniversary celebration, in Lospalos Administrative Post, Lautem Municipality.
The retired General emphasized to the students in Lautem municipality that young people are the future of this country.
“The future begins now, when education is good, the future will be good. When you don’t focus, in the future you will live with problems and contradictions,” said Lere in a statement.
The national leader continued by asking parents to properly look after their children as fathers and mothers living in families, including caregivers who prepare people to become individuals because family is the first educator, thus striving to educate children to become good individuals.
Regarding the difficulties at Lere Anan Timur secondary school, the patron clarified that the Ministry of Education must work to find solutions and asked that any government make major investments in education compared to other investments because delays in education will threaten the nation’s future life.
Eusenia Xavier, representing her fellow students, appreciated the presence of General (RET.) Lere Anan Timur as patron and for providing motivation during the lecture, especially speaking about stability and youth life and students for Timor-Leste’s future.
