DILI, 27 november 2024 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta, and Central Bank Governor Helder Lopes held a meeting to address illegal money activities and financial terrorism in the country.
The high-level discussion centered on developing a comprehensive Money Laundering Law to regulate and prevent financial crimes.
Governor Lopes shared insights into recent investigative cases, highlighting the collaborative efforts between the Central Bank and other relevant entities in tracking financial irregularities.
“The proposed legislation aims to create robust legal mechanisms to protect the country’s economic integrity and prevent potential financial threats,” said in a statement.
Horta strongly supported the Central Bank’s efforts, emphasizing the critical importance of protecting national economic interests from illegal activities.
