DILI, 02 december 2024 (TATOLI) – The Indonesian Cultural Center (PBI-acronym in Indonesian) in Dili has offered scholarships for 17 Timorese teachers to undertake Master’s Degree in Indonesian Language Education, in Bandung, Indonesia.
“We have an Indonesian Language Program for Foreign Speakers which aims to give Timorese teachers the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in Indonesian language,” said Ikhfan Haris, the Education Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Dili.
The diplomat added that the Indonesian government is committed to continuing to provide opportunities for Timorese teachers.
One of the scholarship holders, Gil Tomé, a teacher at Baucau’s Santo António Secondary School, praised the initiative, and thanked the government for the opportunity.
He said that Indonesian language is one of the most widely spoken languages in Southeast Asia, including Timor-Leste.
