DILI, 09 december 2024 (TATOLI) – The Government identified 288 households that had recently been evicted from their homes to be compensated in the near future.

Compensation would be transferred to a bank account of each family for a financial loss following the eviction.

The 288 families had been forcibly evicted from their homes because they lived in areas prone to natural disasters, such as those close to river banks.

These families would be transported to their municipalities with the support of the government.

“All of you will receive compensation. The government has collected your bank account to make the payment,” Prime Minister Gusmão told reporters at the Presidential Palace, on thursday.

To date, the government has evicted people from a number of sites in Dili, including Bidau, Fomentu II, Aitarak Laran, Ai Mutin, etc.
