DILI, 16 january 2025 (TATOLI) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MFAC), Bendito dos Santos Freitas, received a visit from the Secretary General of the g7+ and his team, updating him on the preparations for the Inter-Ministerial Meeting of the g7+ countries.
Prior to this, the aforementioned meeting was scheduled for April 10-14 in South Korea but was changed to Timor-Leste and will be held on April 9-11, 2025.
The Secretary General of g7+, Helder da Costa said that the previous agenda was to be held in South Korea in coordination with the Universal Peace Federation, but it was changed because South Korea will act as host of the Peace Summit which will be attended by more than a hundred countries, including the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres.
Preparations for this inter-ministerial meeting will be made in coordination between the Secretary General of the g7+ and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and this event will also be held to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the existence of this inter-governmental organization.
This change also has a positive aspect for Timor-Leste because, according to Helder da Costa, the member countries of the g7+ will be meeting in Timor-Leste to address world peace and in Timor-Leste.
This meeting was held at the MFAC office accompanied by the Director General of Multilateral Affairs, Leoneto Mantilo, and the Voting Point of the MFAC Office, Câncio Oliveira.
