SWITZERLAND, 25 january 2025 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta congratulated Donald Trump, wishing him much success in his second term and pledging stronger cooperation between Tim0r-Leste and the United States.
The Head of State expressed his eagerness to work closely with President Trump to strengthen the ties between Timor-Leste and US: “I hope that the bilateral relations between the US and Timor-Leste will be strengthened under Trump’s leadership.”
He emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation with the US in various fields, including trade, economy and diplomacy.
On november 11, 2024, Timorese Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão congratulated President Donald Trump on his election win.
“Dear President-elect Trump, on behalf of the Government and the people of Timor-Leste, I wish to extend my sincere congratulations on your comprehensive victory in the Presidential elections,” Gusmão said in a statement. Gusmão conveyed his best wishes for a successful term ahead.
