DILI, 28 january 2025 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MoFAC), on monday, held an induction session for the successful candidates of the Second Cohort of the Futuru Líder ba ASEAN program (FLBA – ASEAN Future Leaders).
In her opening remarks, Vice-Minister for ASEAN Affairs Milena Rangel highlighted the importance of investing in future leaders to contribute to Timor-Leste’s accession to ASEAN national development and regional stability.
The FLBA program is a strategic initiative financed by the Timor-Leste government, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to prepare the nation’s next generation of leaders for long-term integration into ASEAN. The program is directed by the Vice-Minister for ASEAN Affairs with the purpose of preparing the next generation of leaders from all sectors of the country to take responsibility for Timor-Leste’s long-term national development within the ASEAN region.
It is a 12-month program composed of leadership training sessions, exposure to ASEAN through a 10-day immersion in an ASEAN country, action learning projects for the strategic development of Timor-Leste, and leadership career development planning.
Almost 500 young people aged 23-37 from the public sector, private sector, civil society, and academia applied for the second cohort and 100 were selected to be part of the year-long program.
The program’s second cohort is expected to be launched in early February 2025.
