DILI, 30 january 2025 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Education (MoE) will socialize the implementation of the new school uniform program.
The new uniforms for the Preschool, Primary, Secondary, and Vocational schools were launched by Prime Minister, Xanana Gusmão, on December 20, 2024, at the National Institute for Training of Teachers and Education Professionals (INFORDEPE), in Dili.
The Director General of Secondary Education, Deolindo da Cruz, said that socialization is crucial to ensure the successful implementation of the school uniform program.
Cruz said that socialization would begin with meetings with school principals to explain the uniform, including its color and meaning: “Then the school principals would share the information about the uniform with the parents of students.”
Cruz explained that the colors of the school uniforms are varied, describing that the preschool uniform includes green and white, the basic school uniform is white and brown, and dark blue and white, and black and white for high and vocational school students.
He added that if the school uniform is provided by each school, the cost of each uniform will not exceed US$50.
Cruz said that parents also have the option of buying their own fabric to sew their children’s school uniforms.
