DILI, 18 February 2025 (TATOLI) – Minister of Trade and Industry, Filipus Nino Pereira, on Monday, received a courtesy visit from the Philippines’ Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Maria Anne Padua, at the office of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the Philippines and Timor-Leste to boosting bilateral economic and business activities.
Pereira said that during the meeting, they discussed initiatives to better develop Timor-Leste’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises with the support of the Government of the Philippines.
“This courtesy visit is intended to further strengthen the good relations between Timor-Leste and the Philippines,” said Minister Pereira after meeting with the Ambassador Padua, on Monday.
He thanked the Philippine government for its commitment to continue supporting Timor-Leste’s accession to ASEAN.
Minister Pereira said that Timor-Leste still needs technical assistance from the Philippine government to support its efforts to become a full member of ASEAN, which is expected to happen this year.
