DILI, 20 February 2025 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the Presidency of the Republic met on Thursday with Resident and Non-Resident Ambassadors as part of the 2025 Annual Diplomatic Reception, sharing about the Strategic National Development Plan of the Government of Timor-Leste.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito dos Santos Freitas considered that this meeting was very important because it was an opportunity to share important information about the State Building and Nation Building process, including the program and political strategy for national development.
Therefore, the Government together with the private sector and the banking institution shared the government’s information, initiatives and main priorities taking into account the challenges and opportunities.
In the presence of these diplomats, Minister Bendito Freitas stated that Timor-Leste is full of complete perspectives for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the future, aiming to provide collective benefits to the people and the country.
Furthermore, the Government through the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources also made a presentation on the management of the land border between Timor-Leste and Indonesia, which will serve as a lesson for countries that have conflicts over border issues and also encourage them to invest in the oil and minerals sector.
While the Governor of the Central Bank of Timor-Leste and the Secretary General of g7+ made a presentation on the management policy of the Petroleum Fund with the sovereign fund of the People of Timor-Leste. Furthermore, they introduced the role of the G7+ Intergovernmental Organization in relation to the State-building and Peace-building process and others.
Meanwhile, this ceremony was attended by Members of the Government and the Diplomatic Corps residing in Timor-Leste, and the closing was made by the Interim Prime Minister, the current Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Agio Pereira.
