DILI, 20 February 2025 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste will host several international events, including the g7+ Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting, the International Conference of the United Nations Special Committee on Decolonization (the well-known C-24), 12th edition of the CPLP Games, Youth Ministers Meeting and 4th edition of the Conference of Luso-Asian Communities.
“Timor-Leste is going to host a number of multilateral events and international ministerial conferences, such as the g7+ Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting, which will take place in the second week of April 2025. We will host the international conference of the United Nations Special Committee on Decolonization (the well-known C-24), to take place in May,” Timorese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bendito Freitas, said during a bilateral meeting with ambassadors at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MoFAC) in Dili on Thursday.
He said that Timor-Leste will also host the 12th edition of the CPLP Games and the Youth Ministers Meeting this year, which will take place from July 17 to 27, 2025, in Dili: “Timor-Leste will also host the 4th edition of the Conference of Luso-Asian Communities, again here in Dili.”
“One of the very important programs this year is our final preparation for full membership into ASEAN. We are working with all speeds to implement the programs related to our commitments with ASEAN entrance processes, one of the most awaited moments,” Minister Freitas added.
He said that this is a great momentum for Timor-Leste to prove itself as a successful nation, which, while still working for its development in many relevant strategic areas, as the country is heavily engaged in a number of bilateral and multilateral programs.
“We are strongly committed to continuously working to foster strategic partnership and amicable relations with our regional neighbors and international partners. The doors of this Ministry, of this Government, the 9th Constitutional Government, are open for ongoing dialogue and for fostering our cooperation relations with our good friends,” Freitas concluded.
