DILI, 26 February 2025 (TATOLI) – Today, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Timor-Leste’s National Defense Force (F-FDTL), signed the extension of the Memorandum of Understanding on International Humanitarian Law (IHL).
The signing ceremony was held at the F-FDTL’s General Headquarters in Fatuhada, Dili.
The MoU signing was performed by the Chief of Staff of the Timor-Leste Defense Force (F-FDTL), Domingos Raúl ‘Falur Rate Laek’, and the ICRC Regional Deputy Head Johan Guillaume.
This ceremony valued the strengthening cooperation between the ICRC and F-FDTL to promote and integrate IHL and humanitarian principles in military operations, ensuring awareness and knowledge within the military personnel.
Both the ICRC and F-FDTL strengthen coordination with the CVTL as a dedicated humanitarian partner in the country to support the IHL integration and implementation including humanitarian actions in Timor-Leste.
