Timor-Leste’s Defense Minister meets with Malaysian Counterpart Nordin

DILI, 26 February 2025 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste’s Defense Minister, Donaciano do Rosário Gomes ‘Pedro Klamar Fuik’ on Tuesday (Feb 25) held a bilateral meeting with his Malaysian counterpart, Mohamed Khaled Nordin, to discuss the commitment of the two countries to contribute to maintaining peace, security, and stability in the region.

The meeting took place on the margins of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) Retreat in Penang, Malaysia.

The meeting was a testament to the commitment of Timr-Leste and Malaysia to elevating the growing cooperation between the two countries in the defense and security field.

During the meeting, the two touched on strengthening regional security cooperation​​ and engaging in proactive dialogue.

Minister Klamar Fuik is set to participate in the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) Retreat, scheduled to commence at 9 am (Feb 26), in Batu Ferringhi. 

The program gathers the defense ministers and senior officials from all 10 ASEAN member states, including Timor-Leste as an observer.
