DILI, 05 March 2025 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste’s Minister of Higher Education, Science and Culture, José Honório da Costa Pereira Jerónimo, met with his Indonesian counterpart Brian Yuliarto to discuss ways to establish cooperation in the field of higher education, science and technology between the two countries.
“The two Ministers also agreed to explore cooperation in research, innovation, scholarships, and internship programs,” said in a statement.
During the meeting, Minister Yuliarto reiterated his strong commitment to facilitating access to student visas and KITAS for all Timor-Leste students pursuing higher education at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels at Indonesian universities.
Meanwhile, Minister Honório expressed his appreciation for his counterpart’s commitment and reaffirmed his readiness to continue collaborating with Indonesia to advance higher education, science, research, and technology.
Honório also took the opportunity to invite his counterpart to visit Timor-Leste at a time that is most convenient for both parties.
Minister Honório is the first visiting minister from a friendly country to meet with Minister Yuliarto after his inauguration on February 19, 2025.
Minister Honório was accompanied by the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Indonesia, Roberto Soares, Executive Director of FDCH, Julio Aparicio, Education Attaché Jaime Andre Simões, and Dalia Suzana, Advisor to the Minister.
The Meeting took place in the meeting room of the Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, in Jakarta, today.
