DILI, 13 March 2025 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, Jose Ramos-Horta, inaugurated a new Presidential Clinic today in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.

The clinic was inaugurated after President Horta’s regular meeting with Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão at the Presidential Palace.

The ceremony included the handover of an ambulance from the Ministry of Health to the Presidency.

Horta told reporters that the facility would primarily serve presidential staff, while also attending to exceptional cases from the surrounding community.

The President emphasized that the clinic is essential and aligns with practices in other countries regarding medical care for presidency officials.

“All technical support and medical equipment has been provided by the Ministry of Health, with two Cuban doctors working at the facility,” said in a statement.

Earlier, President Horta held his regular meeting with Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão to discuss government operations and future priorities. The Prime Minister reported that they reviewed ongoing government initiatives and addressed key issues for the coming weeks, including preparations for diplomatic visits from various Lusophone leaders and the Prime Ministers of Malaysia and Vietnam.

Prime Minister Gusmão also briefed the President on the government’s response to recent flooding that affected parts of the country, as part of their discussion on urgent national issues requiring immediate attention.
