DILI, 16 April 2025 (TATOLI) – Licypriya Kangujam, a 13-year-old special envoy of President of the Republic Jose Ramos Horta and environmental Activist, has donated 10 pianos to schools and churches across Timor-Leste as part of her ongoing humanitarian efforts in Timor-Leste.

During a recent interview, Kangujam explained that the initiative stemmed from requests she received during her previous visit to the nation, when local children expressed their need for musical instruments.

This latest donation builds upon Kangujam’s previous contributions to the country, which include 100 footballs, laptops, and school supplies. Despite her young age, the Indian teen remains committed to supporting Timor-Leste’s youth development, stating that she aims to continue President Horta’s legacy through these humanitarian projects.

Kangujam emphasized her commitment to helping develop opportunities for the young people of Timor-Leste, despite occasionally facing challenges due to her age. The young peace advocate also highlighted his work in his home country of India, where she has established a peace information center to further her humanitarian mission.

Kangujam’s efforts represent a remarkable example of youth leadership in international development and cultural exchange, creating lasting connections between India and Timor-Leste through education and the arts.

Licypriya Kangujam, at just 13 years old, has emerged as a powerful voice in the global climate movement. Since the age of six, she has been tirelessly advocating for climate action, speaking at international forums, and inspiring youth worldwide to engage in environmental activism.

During her previous visit to Timor-Leste in September 2024, Kangujam participated in a series of interactive sessions and presentations at various educational institutions across the country, including CAFÉ School in Taibessi, CAFÉ School in Bécora, Timor-Leste’s Catholic University (UCT), the Institute Professional of Canossa (IPDC), Dili Portuguese School (EPD), and the National University of Timor-Lorosa’e (UNTL). These events aimed at raising awareness about climate change and inspiring young citizens to take action for a sustainable future.
