DILI, 02 May 2025 (TATOLI) – The Human Capital Development Fund (FDCH) Scholarship Program 2025 is now open for application.
This year, the fully funded scholarships will provide opportunities for 84 Timorese to pursue bachelor’s and master’s degrees at higher education institutions in both countries.
FDCH’s Executive Director, Júlio Aparício, encouraged Timorese with strong academic records to apply for the scholarship.
The application for the scholarship must be submitted by 6 May at the latest.
Aparício said that, of the 84 successful applicants, 54 would be sent to Malaysia, including three for master’s degree programs. Meanwhile, 30 others would study in Indonesia.
The scholarships would cover various fields of study, including health, maritime sciences, engineering, management, and Artificial Intelligence.
He said that a team from the universities of both countries will arrive in June to conduct the admissions tests.
In addition, FDCH will also offer 22 scholarships for Timorese students to study at universities in Brazil, and the application process will open in the near future.
It is worth recalling that last year the government offered scholarships to 92 individuals to deepen their knowledge at academic institutions in five countries, including Portugal, Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
The scholarship program, one of the government’s initiatives to promote the development of national human resources in strategic areas, is coordinated by the Ministry of Planning and Strategic Investment and managed by the FDCH.
More than 10,000 Timorese students have benefitted from FDCH scholarships since 2011.
