DILI, 15 May 2025 (TATOLI) – Plan International Timor-Leste (PITL), in collaboration with the Halibur Matan Timor-Leste Association (AHMDTL) and Arcoiris Timor-Leste, and with financial support from the European Union (EU), organized a conference today to promote inclusion and diversity among youth in Timor-Leste.
The event took place at Delta Nova, Dili, under the theme Breaking Barriers and Strengthening Diversity in Timor-Leste.
The event aimed to foster greater understanding and appreciation of diversity and complexity among the youth.
Speaking at the conference, Fátima Soares, Acting Country Director of Plan International, said the initiative aimed to raise awareness among young people, and students about the importance of combating all forms of discrimination—particularly against persons with disabilities and members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex (LGBTQI).
Soares said that the event also provided a platform to discuss the challenges and progress related to implementing anti-discrimination measures for these marginalized groups.
