DILI, 15 May 2025 (TATOLI) – The Government of Timor-Leste organized a National Fair to showcase the nation’s advancements.
The fair, which is being held at the Dili Port, was launched by the President of the Republic, José Ramos-Horta.
In his address, the President underscored the improvements visible across the country, attributing these positive developments to the Government’s strategic plans and the commendable quality and dedication of local authorities and municipal leadership.
Horta highlighted that Timor-Leste’s significant development over the past one to two decades is widely acknowledged, even by foreigners, including journalists and individuals who previously worked in the nation, who now admire the good progress upon their return.
The Head of State also stated the foundational principle that without peace, there is no development, crediting the current peaceful environment as a cornerstone for these achievements and noting that only those unwilling to recognize would overlook these tangible advancements.
Looking towards regional integration, the President confirmed that Timor-Leste has successfully met the seven key criteria laid out by ASEAN for accession, marking a significant milestone.
President explained that while foundational criteria are met, the nature of development, particularly in infrastructure, is inherently “ongoing,” signifying a continuous journey of improvement.
