DILI, 29 May 2025 (TATOLI) – The Government of Timor-Leste has approved a draft resolution to ratify a visa exemption agreement with Malaysia, allowing visa-free travel for holders of all types of passport — including diplomatic, official, service, and ordinary passports.
The approved resolution on the visa exemption agreement with Malaysia will be submitted to the National Parliament for ratification.
The Government said that the move is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and make travel between the two nations easier.
The ratification of the visa exemption aims to further strengthen bilateral relations, promote tourism between the two countries, and fulfil Timor-Leste’s commitments as part of its ongoing accession process to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Last year, Timor-Leste also signed similar visa waiver agreements with Brunei Darussalam, Thailand, and Singapore, covering diplomatic, service, and ordinary passport holders.
The government has previously approved visa exemption agreements for diplomatic and service passport holders from Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam as part of broader regional integration efforts.
