DILI, 13 June 2025 (TATOLI) – The National Coordination Commission on the Implementation of Measures Against Money Laundering (CNCBC) of Timor-Leste, in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Group (APG) on Money Laundering, organized a three-day Strategic Implementation Plan (SIP) Workshop from 10 to 12 June 2025 in Dili.
The workshop was held in the Diplomatic Training Center (DTC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cooperation (MOFAC) and delivered by the experts from APG Secretariat and Technical Assistance Providers from UNODC and Judicial Police of Portugal.
The purpose of the workshop is to assist Timor-Leste to prioritize and develop SIP to implementing the recommended actions set out in Timor-Leste’s Mutual Evaluation Report (MER) which adopted in the APG Plenary in September 2024, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The workshop was opened by Sergio da Costa Hornai, Minister of Justice and Co-Chair of the CNCBC.
Minister Hornai emphasized the importance of the workshop for Timor-Leste in order to fulfill international standards sets out by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
The Minister also reiterated Government of Timor-Leste’s commitment to implement recommendations in the MER.
The three days’ workshop were attended by all CNCBC Members or Representatives and actively discussed and contributed to the development of the SIP.
APG is an inter-governmental organization of FATF Style Regional Body (FSRBs) in the Asia and Pacific Regions, consisting of 42 members and 43 observers. Timor-Leste is a member jurisdiction of the APG since July 2008 and has been evaluated twice in 2012 and 2024, as an obligation for all APG member jurisdictions.
