Govt Allocates Over US$16 Million for Construction of IPB’s New Facilities

DILI, 18 June 2025 (TATOLI) – The Council of Ministers has approved on Wednesday, a budget of US$16.47 million for the construction of new facilities for the Betano Polytechnic Institute (IPB) in Manufahi Municipality.

The funding proposal was presented by the Minister of Planning and Strategic Investment, Gastão de Sousa.

According to a government release, the project is part of the Integrated Development Plan under the National Strategic Development Plan 2011–2030.

The construction of IPB’s new building aims to improve the quality of higher education and boost the training of skilled professionals in strategic fields.

In 2022, the then Minister of Higher Education, Science and Culture, Longuinhos dos Santos, signed an agreement with the Director of Chongqing International Construction Corporation to launch the construction of the new IPB building. At the time, the project was estimated to cost US$4.5 million.
