DILI, 19 June 2025 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta, on Wednesday delivered a keynote speech at the Global Leadership & Dialogue Initiative (GLIDE) International Forum, which took place in the Malaysian capital.
GLIDE 2025: Dialogue Initiative – Kuala Lumpur is a global forum organized by the RIGHTS–Global Leadership & Dialogue Initiative (GLIDE) and the RIGHTS Foundation, under the theme “Global Justice and Peace Through Dialogue.”
GLIDE 2025 aims to position Kuala Lumpur as a central platform for ethical leadership, youth engagement, and inter-civilizational dialogue, addressing urgent global challenges through meaningful discussion and collaborative action.
Horta’s presence at this event symbolizes the ongoing commitment to promoting peace, social justice, and ethics in leadership at the global level.
As a keynote speaker, President Horta shared Timor-Leste’s experience and its perspective on humanistic leadership and constructive international dialogue.
Horta’s participation would strengthen the shared efforts to promote peace, justice, and inclusive leadership, especially among youth and civil society networks.
The program also includes an official fellowship dinner with Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Malaysia is recognized as a strategic partner within the ASEAN context and a long-standing supporter of Timor-Leste’s development process.
The event also includes the launch of the book “Anwar Ibrahim: Global Justice and Peace Through Dialogue,” authored by Yusmadi Yusoff, who is also President of the RIGHTS Foundation. The session features the presence of various prominent public and political figures, including Dato’ Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, former Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, current member of the Malaysian Parliament, and wife of Malaysia’s Prime Minister.
President Horta, accompanied by an official delegation, arrived on Monday at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 4:30 PM. Upon arrival, the delegation was received directly by Timor-Leste’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Lisualdo Gaspar, proceeding immediately to the St. Regis Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
