DILI, 27 June 2025 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, José Ramos-Horta, met with the Ambassador of Guinea-Bissau to Portugal, Artur Silva, to discuss efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation between Timor-Leste and Guinea-Bissau.

Ambassador Silva is currently visiting Dili to participate in the Fourth Conference of the Asian Communities of Portuguese Language.

The meeting, held on Friday at the Presidential Palace, aimed to reinforce the strong fraternal ties between the two Lusophone nations and explore new avenues for collaboration within the framework of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP).

During the audience, topics related to bilateral cooperation were discussed, and a common interest in deepening diplomatic and institutional relations was expressed. The meeting highlighted the shared history and cultural values that unite the two Lusophone nations.

Ambassador Silva thanked the Head of State for his hospitality and the warm welcome he received during his stay.

In turn, President Ramos-Horta reiterated Timor-Leste’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Guinea-Bissau, highlighting the importance of continuous dialogue and close collaboration for mutual development and the achievement of common goals.
