DILI, 01 July 2025 (TATOLI) – The U.S. Embassy in Timor-Leste, through its Office of Defense Cooperation, on Tuesday celebrated the graduation of Timor-Leste Air Component members from an intensive English language program.
The ceremony was held at the F-FDTL Air Component compound at Dili International Airport and attended by F-FDTL leadership, U.S. Embassy’s Charge d’Affaires, Bruce Robert Begnell, officials, and international defense partners.
The course, designed to enhance communication skills and foster better cooperation, has equipped the graduates with essential English language proficiency.
“Congratulations! You’ve taken on a difficult task and excelled. English is more than just a global language- it’s a tool of cooperation, a foundation for operational success, and a bridge that connects Timor-Leste to regional and global partners. In mastering this skill, you are strengthening the F-FDTL’s ability to operate in joint and multinational environments, particularly as the Air Component continues to grow in mission and relevance,” said U.S. Charge d’Affaires
Attendees included high-level officials from F-FDTL headquarters, the Air Component, and representatives from Timor-Leste’s Ministry of Defense. The graduates expressed their gratitude and shared their experiences in the course, highlighting its impact on their professional development. The graduation ceremony marks a significant milestone in the ongoing cooperation between the United States and Timor-Leste.
