Ti-oan company offers $100,000 to the National Women’s Football Team

DILI, 12 July 2025 (TATOLI) — Through its subsidiary, Ti-oan Company, ETO Group has awarded a $100,000 bonus to the players of Timor-Leste’s national women’s football team.

“This isn’t the first time we’ve given a bonus—previously we did so for the men’s team. This marks the second time we’re supporting the women’s team,” Ti-oan representative Edmundo Freitas Lopes said during the bonus handover ceremony at the Timor-Leste Football Federation (FFTL) building in Formosa on Saturday.

The company’s initiative aims to motivate and uplift the national women’s team.

“We want to recognize the women’s team for their achievements in recent matches,” he added.

He encouraged the team to continue delivering strong performances in upcoming international events to help elevate Timor-Leste’s name on the global stage.

João Soares Amaral, Director of National Team Services at FFTL, expressed gratitude to ETO Group and its subsidiary Ti-oan for their continued support.

“This gesture acknowledges the efforts our players have made in past matches and is intended to further motivate our athletes across the country to strive for excellence in the future,” he said.

Dolores Verdiana da Silva Costa, a representative of the national women’s team, shared her appreciation for the support, noting that it would help meet the team’s needs and improve facilities to develop their football talents.

“I’m hopeful that this support will continue and lead to even better results when we participate in future international events,” she said.

Previously, the senior national women’s team competed in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 qualifiers, placed in Group B alongside Thailand, India, Mongolia, and Iraq. Timor-Leste ranked third in the group with 4 points.

Thailand hosted the Group B matches at Chiang Mai Stadium.

Under the leadership of head coach Emral Bustamam and his assistants, the team played in Thailand on June 23: Timor-Leste vs. Iraq — 1-1 draw; June 26: Timor-Leste vs. Thailand — 0-4 loss; June 29: Timor-Leste vs. India — 0-4 loss; July 5: Timor-Leste vs. Mongolia — 3-1 win

The team returned to Timor-Leste on July 7, 2025.
