DILI, 17 July 2025 (TATOLI) – Luso-Timorese footballer Zion Plinio Daniel Bessie Cruz, 24, currently playing for Moura Atlético Clube in Portugal, has formally expressed to join the national team.
The announcement was made through an official statement issued by the Timor-Leste Football Federation (FFTL).
Born in Portugal to a Timorese father, Fernando Cesar Cruz, and an Australian mother, Zion plays as an attacking midfielder in Portugal’s fourth-tier national league.
According to the FFTL, the player and his family officially submitted their interest to the national team on 15 June, during a meeting at the federation’s headquarters in Dili.
The meeting was hosted by FFTL Secretary-General José Adilson Ribeiro and National Team Operations Officer José Fonseca.
